How mTrek Works:
Preparation
- Educational institution signs up for a customizable mTrek web site.
- Instructor schedules a fieldtrip through an easy-to-use web interface. A password for the fieldtrip is created and a link to the fieldtrip is posted for students.
- Fieldtrip link and password are sent to students via email or posted in a CMS such as Blackboard, Angel, or eCollege.
- Instructor downloads streaming software onto a mobile phone.
Field Trip
- Instructor arrives at fieldtrip site and launches streaming software on mobile phone. At the designated time, he clicks the ‘Start’ on his phone and records video of the environment.
- Students located anywhere in the world log in to the mTrek mobile fieldtrip website and view the video. Students can call in questions and comments using teleconferencing tools.
- To close, instructor clicks ‘Stop’ and students close web browser.
